Arun Rai is Regents' Professor and Harkins Chair in Information Systems at the Robinson College of BusinessCenter for Process Innovation (CEPRIN) and Department of Computer Information Systems at Georgia State University. He co-founded CEPRIN, a college-level research center, with colleagues, Dr. Lars Mathiassen and Dr. Richard Welke. He also serves as the PhD coordinator for CEPRIN's interdisciplinary PhD program on Business Process Innovation. 

Arun's research focuses on digitally-enabled innovation of business networks, business processes, and supply chains. He approaches investigation of problems in these contexts by probing the cross-functional relationships between information systems, operations management, and strategy. He has published extensively in leading academic and practitioner journals, including Accounting, Management and Information Technologies, Annals of Operations Research, Computers and Operations Research, Communications of the ACM, Decision Sciences, Decision Support Systems, European Journal of Operations Research, IEEE Computer, IEEE Transactions on Engineering Management, Information Systems Journal, Information Systems Research, Information Technology & People, Journal of Management Information Systems, Management Science, MIS Quarterly, Omega and several others. He serves as Senior Editor for Information Systems Research and as Associate Editor for Management Science. He has also served on the editorial boards of Decision Sciences, IEEE Transactions on Engineering Management, Information Systems Research, MIS Quarterly, Journal of the Association for Information Systems, Journal of Strategic Information Systems, and others.   

Arun has chaired or co-chaired 20 doctoral dissertations. He teaches in degree- and non-degree executive education programs. He developed and delivered an extremely successful customized Global Supply Chain Solutions executive education program for United Parcel Service's senior- and middle management located both in the United States, Europe, and South America. He also led a team of co-researchers in the development of a thought leadership white paper series, which was sponsored by SAP Corporation, on adaptive supply chain management.  

Arun's research has been sponsored by several corporations and agencies, including A.T. Kearney, Bozell Worldwide, DaimlerChrysler, Comdisco, IBM, Intel, UPS, SAP, Scientific Atlanta, Gartner, Georgia-Pacific, Georgia Research Alliance, and Advanced Practices Council for the Society of Information Management, among others. These projects have focused on supply chain transformation, logistics and distribution collaboration, business process architectures and IT infrastructures, marketplaces and exchanges, knowledge integration for global business processes, global data warehousing and data mining for customer relationship management. He is currently leading several large-scale projects on digitally induced supply chain innovation.  He has received several awards for research and teaching contributions, including an IBM Faculty award, and is a frequently invited speaker at national and international meetings for both academic and practitioner audiences.
